Booties which I made before  were just simple in look. This time I decide to make something different from  my previous work. When I got to see this booty in a library book I decided to do it and to my surprise the out come was far better than the book model. The color combination was my choice [book model was blue and pink ]

NAN KHATAI COOKIES

NAN KHATAI  COOKIES

Nan Khatai cookies brings me the nostalgic days................Those days  my Mum do Nan Khatai  cookies at home of which I used to eat more than my siblings .............. I longgggggggg for my Mum's cooking ...........So I decide to do it by myself with the recipe my mum has given me before................. Of course the outcome was quite satisfying and it was very near to my Mum's cookies...................... I made these cookies last year but could not upload it for some reason ........... Only today I found time to upload them....................

Ingredients:-

All Purpose flour / Maida - 1 cup

Sugar - 1/2 cup
Butter - 1 stick
Baking Soda -  1/4 tsp
Salt -  1 pinch
Cardamom powder -  1 tsp (optional)

Method:

      1.  Pre-heat the oven at 150C for 10 minutes.

      2. Grease  your baking tray with butter  and set aside.

      3.  Powder the sugar along with cardamom pods.

      4.  Sieve the maida flour along with baking powder. Also sieve the powdered sugar upon maida.

      5.  Mix the flour well with your hands.

     6.  Add butter to the flour and keep mixing, first the flour becomes like crumbles. keep on adding the butter till flour comes together as a smooth pilable dough. Do this process patiently, this process takes 10 minutes.

      7. Once you get the smooth pilable dough, pinch a small ball of dough and roll it with your palms. Slightly press it with your palms, so that the ball flattens a bit. Place the flattened ball over the tray . Likewise fill the tray. Press nuts of your choice over each nankhatai.

Before baking

8.      Bake the Nankhatai in pre-heated oven at 150c for 10-12 minutes. Till the bottom of the nankhatai turns light brown in colour. Change the sides of tray in between, to ensure even baking.

After baking
 9.   Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to cooling wrack and let it cool for another 5 minutes

I have reposted this booties from my other blog     http://zeez-craft.blogspot.sg/

I felt so happy on uploading this booties in a IL Forum on which I got more compliments from many new people and that got me many new friends on that forum. I got this pattern from a website. I was attracted by the colors used so I used the same. I just love them
